We handle personal data in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (the "PDPL") and the other applicable laws of the United Arab Emirates. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have.

  • We collect only what we need to answer your inquiry, arrange your stay, register guests as the law requires and manage owners' properties.
  • WhatsApp is our main booking channel. Messages you send us there are also handled by WhatsApp under its own privacy policy.
  • We never sell your personal data.
  • One cookie, no tracking. This website sets a single language cookie, and only when you choose a language. There are no analytics or advertising cookies (section 10).
  • You stay in control. You can ask to access, correct or delete your data by writing to info@bariquae.com (section 8).

This summary is for convenience only. The full policy below applies.

The controller responsible for your personal data is BARIQ VACATION HOMES RENTAL L.L.C (⁧بريق لتأجير بيوت العطلات ذ.م.م⁩), a limited liability company established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("BARIQ", "we" or "us"). This policy applies to bariquae.com (the "Website") and to the personal data we handle when you contact us by WhatsApp, telephone or email, book a stay, or use our holiday home management services.

For any question about this policy or your personal data, email us at info@bariquae.com. Your use of the Website is also governed by our Terms and Conditions.

2The personal data we collect

Link to section 2

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

Contact details
your name, email address, telephone and WhatsApp number, and preferred language.
Inquiry and booking details
the dates, area and type of home you are interested in, the number of adults and children, your preferences and special requests, and our messages with you.
Guest identification
passport or Emirates ID details and copies for every guest who will stay, including nationality and date of birth, which the law requires for guest registration with the authorities.
Payment records
records of the payments you make and the refunds we issue. We do not collect card details through the Website.
Owner and property information
the Property's location, type, size and furnishing; ownership and authority documents such as the title deed, identification, no-objection certificates and utility accounts; bank details for payments to the Owner; and records of bookings, revenue and expenses for the Property.
Communications
the content of the messages, emails, calls and form submissions you send us.
Technical data
when you visit the Website, our hosting provider processes technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and the date and time, in server logs used to operate and secure the Website. When our inquiry forms send an inquiry directly to us, they also use your IP address briefly, in memory, to block abuse; it is not stored with your inquiry.

We collect most of this data from you directly. We may also receive it from a booking platform when you book through it, from the person who makes a booking (about the other guests in their party), from a broker or partner who introduces you to us, or from an Owner (about their authorised representatives). If you give us personal data about other people, please make sure they are aware of this policy.

3How we use personal data, and why

Link to section 3

We use personal data only for the purposes below, and only where the PDPL allows it:

Answering inquiries
to respond to your request and take the steps you ask for before a booking or an agreement, and with your consent when you contact us.
Confirming and managing stays
to perform our contract with you: Booking Confirmations, payments, check-in, guest communication and support during your stay.
Registering guests and meeting legal duties
to comply with our legal obligations, including registering guests with the authorities, collecting the Tourism Dirham fee and other government charges, keeping tax and accounting records, and responding to lawful requests from the authorities.
Holiday home management
to perform our contract with the Owner: registering and permitting the Property, listing and marketing it, managing its bookings, and preparing statements and payments.
Security and preventing misuse
to protect the Website, our guests, Owners and homes, and to prevent fraud and abuse, as needed to provide our services and to comply with the law.
Legal claims
to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
News and offers
only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.

Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that took place before. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

4Who we share personal data with

Link to section 4

We do not sell personal data. We share it only where needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • WhatsApp (Meta): when you contact us on WhatsApp, your number and messages are also processed by WhatsApp under its own terms and privacy policy. The Website's booking buttons, and our inquiry forms when they hand over to WhatsApp, only open WhatsApp with your message prefilled; nothing is sent until you press Send.
  • Service providers acting for us: our website hosting provider (Vercel), an email delivery service where we use one to forward website inquiries to our inbox, and our email, storage and communication tools. They may use the data only to provide their services to us.
  • Booking platforms, brokers and partners: to publish and market an Owner's Property, we share its description, photographs and availability. Booking platforms share booking details with us when you book through them.
  • Building management and owners' associations: guest names, stay dates and identification, where the building requires them for access and security.
  • Housekeeping and maintenance contractors: only the details they need, such as stay dates and access arrangements.
  • The owner of the home you stay in: limited booking details, such as names, dates and the number of guests, where needed for your stay.
  • Authorities: the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai and other government authorities, the police, courts and regulators, where the law requires it.
  • Professional advisers: lawyers, accountants, auditors and insurers, who are bound by confidentiality.
  • A successor business: if BARIQ's business is reorganised or transferred, personal data may be transferred with it and will remain protected as described in this policy.

5Transfers outside the UAE

Link to section 5

Some of the providers we use, including our website hosting provider, WhatsApp, email services and booking platforms, may process personal data on servers outside the United Arab Emirates, for example in the European Union or the United States.

We transfer personal data outside the UAE only as the PDPL permits: for example, to countries whose laws provide an adequate level of protection, under contractual terms that require the recipient to protect the data, where the transfer is necessary to perform a contract with you or at your request, or with your express consent.

6How long we keep personal data

Link to section 6

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected for, including to meet legal, tax, accounting and regulatory requirements and to deal with possible claims. In particular:

  • inquiries that do not lead to a booking or an agreement are deleted or anonymised when no longer needed, and in any case within two years of our last contact;
  • booking, payment and Owner records, including guest registration records, are kept for the periods required by UAE law; and
  • copies of identification documents are kept only for as long as needed for guest registration and the related legal record-keeping period.

When personal data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it securely.

7How we protect personal data

Link to section 7

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted connections to the Website, access limited to the people who need it, and confidentiality obligations for our team and service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your data, and we will notify the UAE Data Office and the people affected of a personal data breach where the law requires.

Please send identification documents only when we ask for them, through the channel we confirm with you, and do not include them in website forms.

8Your rights

Link to section 8

Subject to the conditions and exceptions set out in the PDPL, you have the right to:

  • Information and access: know what personal data we hold about you, how we use it and who we share it with, and obtain a copy;
  • Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format, and have it transferred to another controller where technically feasible;
  • Correction: have inaccurate data corrected and incomplete data completed;
  • Erasure: have your data deleted when it is no longer needed or its processing is not lawful;
  • Restriction: ask us to restrict processing, for example while the accuracy of the data is checked;
  • Objection: ask us to stop processing, including for direct marketing; and
  • Withdrawal of consent: withdraw any consent you have given, at any time.

To exercise a right, email info@bariquae.com. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We respond free of charge within the period the law requires. Some data must be kept by law, for example guest registration and tax records, and cannot be deleted before that period ends.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may submit a complaint to the UAE Data Office.

The Website is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We collect personal data about children only when a parent or guardian provides it to arrange a stay, for example the number of children and the identification the law requires for guest registration. If you believe that a child has sent us personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
